  MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

   

  The following membership categories are available:

  • $15 per Student with valid secondary education identification (enter secondary institution name and student ID number in final comment on membership form)
  • $20 per Senior age 60 years or older
  • $25 per Adult age 18 years or older
  • $30 per Family of 2 adults age 18 years or older and children under the age of 18 living at the same address
  • Membership fee may be adjusted for financially challenged applicants (enter information in final comment on membership form)
  • Memberships expire on December 31 of the year they are purchased in, however
    • Memberships purchased between September 1 and December 31 expire December 31 of the following year

  DR. DAVID PUNTER
  HONOURARY MEMBER

  

  Dr. David Punter
  May 26, 1936 to April 24, 2025

   

  Dr. David Punter was an instructor, role model and inspiration for countless professional and amateur mycologists, mycophiles and biologists in Manitoba.

  For decades until about 2017, Dr. Punter presented a Mushroom Workshop for Nature Manitoba as part of their Workshop series, the latest topic being “Morels and Other Fungi”. He lead a foray later in the summer for participants of each workshop to practice identification skills they learned. Dr. Punter was a professor at the University of Manitoba and was the go-to contact for medical advice about mushroom poisonings in Manitoba.

  The Province has lost a huge amount of mycological knowledge and a kind, caring and supportive educator and biologist.

  The Manitoba Mushroom Society honours Dr. David Punter post humously with an Honourary Membership effective 20250801. We extend our condolences to his surviving wife, Elizabeth Punter, and family and friends.
