Land Acknowledgement
Winnipeg and Manitoba are the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Anishininew, Dakota, Inuit, Dene, and Métis People. We respect the Treaties that were made on these traditional lands and Territories that we live and travel on.
Our Hydro electricity power is generated in northern Manitoba, home to the Ininew.
Winnipeg water we consume comes from Shoal Lake adjacent to Shoal Lake 40 First Nation who have struggled to have safe drinking water access and for Freedom Road.
We acknowledge the damage of the past, and present, and commit to meaningful relationship and solidarity with Indigenous peoples.
We respect: Indigenous lands; crown, public, private lands; the environment and ecosystems. We encourage sustainability and strive to ecologically improve places we visit.
Community Acknowledgement
Manitoba Mushroom Society welcomes and respects
BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+ and less privileged persons.

Suspected Mushroom Poisoning
Mushrooms grow in Manitoba that are toxic or deadly, such as Fly agaric, Amanita muscaria or Destroying Angel, Amanita bisporigera.
If you suspect poisoning from mushroom consumption, contact the Manitoba Poison Centre at 1-855-7POISON (1-855-776-4766) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If possible, obtain a sample of the suspect mushroom(s), refrigerate it in a paper (not plastic) bag, it may help with identification.
Try to get high quality photographs of the suspected mushroom to describe to the Poison Centre.
Always cook ANY mushrooms well that you deem are safe for you to consume. If you become ill after eating mushrooms, go to Emergency, symptoms may resolve, meanwhile the toxins may be destroying your organs.
To help others in the future, consider filing a confirmed mushroom poisoning report with North American Mycological Association using this form.
